In Memoriam for Joe Riseland

I've been asked to share the sad sudden news about a long-time resident of Palm Creek (Site 213).  Joe Riseland, age 77, passed away on Thursday, February 5 in Phoenix as the result of a stroke.  Joe and his wife, Jean, have been snowbirds for the past 10 years, splitting their time between Washington and Casa Grande.

After high school, Joe joined the Air Force where he served 4 years as a boom operator aboard refueling planes.  After that he was a Seattle Firefighter for 34 years.  Joe also spent 22 years as a high school basketball referee.

Joe was a fan of all Seattle sports and was an avid fisherman who was often found at the Edmonds Pier and who frequently went on fishing trips with friends to Alaska and to Eastern Washington.  When in Washington he loved to go and watch his grandchildren's activities and when in Arizona he was an avid fan of the Central Arizona College women's basketball team.  He will also be missed as the referee for our local water volleyball league.

We send our sincere condolences to Jean and her family.
